Modern Vinyl

Big Wilco fan, was shocked to hear of Jay's untimely demise on May 24th. Genius, crazyman, brought a vision to Wilco that elevated them to new heights. Bennett seemed to drag Jeff Tweedy up and out of his Uncle Tupelo mindset once and for all , and with Yankee Hotel Foxtrot the collaboration paid off with an almost unreasonable sophistication and intimacy that was only hinted at in Summerteeth before it.

Made pariah in the documentary about the making of YHF, "I Am Trying To Break Your Heart," Jay never seemed to be able to lift himself up again and shine as remarkably as he did for the production of that amazing album.

You can get a glimpse of his musical soul and download his last album for free (legally): whatever happned i apologize

Jay Walter Bennett November 15, 1963 - May 24, 2009
