1 year ago today we launched Big Black Disk as a blog-only site with reviews of records. During the year it morphed into a social network (where you are now), and I'm happy that all of you have made it here. As we move on from here I hope to cover more LP related news and reviews of things, but I'm happy to report that the state of the market for analog has grown even though our economy has been troubled.
A couple of nights back I actually saw a feature on the mainstream news about how vinyl is making a comeback, and it gives me even more hope that the future of vinyl records is - if not completely secure (what is?) - at least fairly stable. I've purchased a LOT of new vinyl from bands this year, bands that are populated with musicians who are sometimes actually younger than the CD itself (which is 27 years old this year).
Thanks for making this site a small oasis of analog within the digital world. I'm looking forward to another fantastic year full of great vinyl finds!
