Chris Sommovigo Beatles Remasters ... Heard Today at NARM

As heard from EMI today, we listened as the first public audience to the remastering of the Beatles catalog by Giles and George Martin. The difference between the original masters and the remasters is astonishing. I'm sure it will cause no small debate, but there can be no denying t… Continue

Chris Sommovigo Listen to Bliss

Yesterday my tech, Rich, and I visited a client of our in Los Angeles. He's an avid collector, especially of Jazz, and every time we visit him he gives us a treat. In this case, the treat was listening to a lacquer cut from the master tape of Horace Silver's "Cape Verdean Blues." I… Continue

Chris Sommovigo R.I.P. Jay Bennett ...

Big Wilco fan, was shocked to hear of Jay's untimely demise on May 24th. Genius, crazyman, brought a vision to Wilco that elevated them to new heights. Bennett seemed to drag Jeff Tweedy up and out of his Uncle Tupelo mindset once and for all , and with Yankee Hotel Foxtrot the collaboration paid off with an almost unreasonable sophistication and intimacy that was only hinted at in Summerteeth before it. Made pariah in the documentary about the making of YHF, "I Am Trying To… Continue

John Great Weekend for Music in Santa Cruz California

The Santa Cruz Blues festival is always a good time for music lovers. This year's line-up was extra special with BB King headling the show on Saturday and Joe Cocker doing the honors on Sunday. The Show also included Leon Russell, Keb Mo, Kenny Wayne Shepard and Jackie Greene. They were all great but Joe Cocker stole the show and showed that he can still sing all of the songs that made him famous. When he sings a song even one done well by other people he really make his own see for Example "I g… Continue

John The Record Man Semi-Annual Sale

Hello All, the record sale at the Record Man store in Redwood City was a success for me. I found several great records, some of them sound great. Some do not, but for $1.00 each one can hope for the best and not worry too much about the money. Here I am deciding between the Fabulous Thunderbirds and Pavarotti, and I got them both. Below me is Gary aka the Record Man owner of the shop.
