Ya, but on the positive side they'd have to WORK, really, really hard for the new Beatles CDs to sound worse than what is available on CD right now.

The article says master tapes, but I wonder if they are production tapes and not masters. If 33/13was doing all the mastering it could have the masters, but why did Matador not have back up safety copies?

I'm hoping that they mean the master plates and NOT the 15ips tape masters. There would be no good reason for the pressing plant to have those. If they have the tape masters at worst they have to cut new lacquers which isn't cheap.

And the Master Tapes too.How could Matador let that happen?

If I remember Nelson did not do the 565 I think it was Watt Campo. I worked for Hafler, NAD and McIntosh, I love the new tube pre(I cant remember the model )and the 75watt tube intergrated with phono.I just did a system for one of my wife' coworkers and went with Musical Fidelty, NAD Rega, and Paradiam (I wanted to go with PSB.)if i had to replace my system I'd go with either NAD, McIntosh,Creek,Manley , Nelson Pass, or Jim Fosgates new tube stuff

The Find of a Lifetime?

Being a semi-serious Beatles fan I was aware that Capitol had not released the earliest Beatles album or single in the US, that honor went to a small Chicago label named Vee Jay. While at Second Hand Tunes in Evanston, IL. I came across a copy of T… Continue

Did the Grammy Awards get something right?

For years I haven't watched the Grammy Awards. For the most it's because the awards are more about music that sells a huge number of units or sentimental/political favorites than about truly great music. Like when the Dixie Chicks swept the awards because they were being boycotted… Continue

The Return of the 7" single

The resurgence of vinyl isn't just happening in America. From all appearances it's a global phanomon. The sale of 7" 45 RPM singles in England broke an estimated 1 million units last year, up from an all-time low in 2001 of 180,000 units. What makes that number all the… Continue
